Bastille Day Events in Sydney July 14th 2018

Judy

Francophiles of Sydney, Bastille day 14th July 2018 is right around the corner and Sydney will be sprinkled and dazzled with some pretty exciting and hard to resist events.  The storming of the Bastille in Paris began the revolution and symbolises society’s pursuits of freedom, equality and democracy that also correspond to our own Australian values.  For the past five years now, Bastille Day around Sydney has been so well received and embraced by Sydney siders that in turn this most important celebration in France is only growing with force here with a week of celebration leading up to the event where many French restaurants around Sydney and NSW hold special parties and where iconic parts of town play host to French markets, concerts and entertainment.  It’s impossible now to attend all these wonderful events but make the time to attend a soiree at one of the participating French restaurants or come by Cirqular Quay on the weekend of Bastille Day and spend even a couple of hours if you’re time poor just to soak up the amazing French atmosphere.  Below are some of the events held in town, some require bookings so hurry don’t miss out the countdown to Bastille Day commences tomorrow July 1st.

SOIREE FRANCAISE

This is one exciting event that can be experienced at the NSW Art Gallery where you can really get into the swing of Bastille Day with my favourite chantuesse duo Baby et Lulu who I have mentioned before here at entrancedbyfrance.  Baby and Lulu will delight you with their charisma as they sing famous and well loved French tunes while you enjoy a three course dinner, drinks and champagne on arrival.  The event will commence at 6.30pm – 9pm Saturday 14th July 2018 and tickets are still available, the cost $150pp for members and $175 pp for non members.  For more information and bookings go to artgallery.nsw.gov.au

BASTILLE FESTIVAL SYDNEY

This is a magnificent French festival and one not be missed – a four day festival of French food, wine music, shopping and endless savoir faire.  This event, now in its fifth year is held at the Rocks and Circular Quay where one can meet and mingle with our French community that retail delicious French artisan and delicious food, wine and services throughout Sydney.  What better way to experience France in Sydney where you can also indulge in the best atmosphere and views in town.  Go to http://bastillefestival.com.au for more information.

ALLIANCE FRANCAISE DE SYDNEY

Every year the Alliance Francaise French language centre promotes and organises Fete de la Bastille at The Argyle bringing the French community of Sydney and Francophiles together for a night to remember.  The celebration includes a complimentary drink on arrival, sweet crepes, French cheeses and saucissons which you can enjoy while listening to French live music, be dazzled by Cancan dancers and celebrate well into the night with Dj French Mafia.  The evening has a festive dress code of either all white, all red or all blue at The Argyle, 18 Argyle Streets, The Rocks on Thursday 12th July for $20 and commences at 5pm – until late.  For more information and to book your tickets go to afsydney.com.au
