Celebrate Bastille Day in Sydney 2017
Dear readers, please hurry and don’t waste another minute procrastinating or wondering what to do between Thursday July 13th-Sunday 16th July and join our French community here in Sydney to celebrate their French National Day of importance. In France, July 14th Bastille day is a national holiday and celebration of mass importance and proportions where fireworks, military parades, concerts and grand scale parties take centre stage all over France. In Paris especially, the Seine river banks convert to one long party scene and the Parc du Champs de Mars by the Eiffel Tower transforms into one big picnic ground filled with families and people of all ages celebrating the hard earned freedoms of a nation. Bastille day is perhaps the country’s most significant day of the year where le Francais celebrate the whole day through in grandiose style with a glass of wine in hand. On this day the French celebrate the notion of ‘liberté, égalité, fraternité‘ (liberty, equality and fraternity) which was a motto that dates back to the beginning of the French revolution and commemorates the storming and destruction of the Bastille prison on July 14th 1790 in Paris symbolic of repression, hardships and inequality of the French people.
